Attention All Members:
The Range Development Committee was formed last year at the request of the Board of Directors. The committee was tasked with ways to improve safety at DCPA for it's members and neighbors. One of the improvements that the committee devised was to develop a Range Orientation Class. The Range Orientation Class was approved by the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. This class will be a requirement for new members who join DCPA to familiarize them on how to use the ranges. In addition, it will be required for all Current DCPA Members as well so that everyone will have the same knowledge. There will also be a video presentation covering the Range Orientation that will replace the current Range Safety Video. We ae currently working on a schedule and online sign up sheet for the classes. Membership will be notified when the classes will commence. In the meantime, please watch the following video created by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Although it is presented at an indoor range, it contains universal range safety conduct and etiquette.

DCPA Opposes the SAFE Act
You will be pleased to know that Dutchess County Pistol Association has joined the ranks of those organizations who have taken an official stance on the SAFE Act.
A resolution in the form of a list of grievances and a call for the repeal of the SAFE Act was passed unanimously by the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.
The resolution was signed by the Chairman of the Board, the President, and the Vice President and then a copy of the resolution was mailed to each of the Dutchess County State Representatives in the Senate and Assembly as well as the Governor.

You can view a copy of the resolution here:

WORK HOUR FULFILLMENT

With your help, we can continue to make DCPA a great place to shoot!
Common Work Opportunities

  • Monthly Work Parties:
This is a great way to get your work hours and help keep our range in top shape! Work Parties are on the first Saturday of most months throughout the year. Projects often include: Trash Removal, Leaf Raking, Tree/Brush/Grass Trimming, Painting, Carpentry, and just plain old manual labor. Please check the DCPA Calendar for details. For 2016, we will be using an Online Sign Up Form for Monthly Work Parties. More details to follow. For more info, please contact:
Contact: Matt Theodoseau, Phone: 214-4810, Email: ExecutiveOfficer@dcpistol.org

  • Weekend Matches & Events:
Duties include setting up targets and shooting courses, working as a range safety officer during the match, and various other tasks. Those interested should contact the coordinator for any of the DCPA Matches & Events to find out details.
List of Officers/Directors/Coordinators: DCPA Officers List

  • Basic Pistol Classes:
Help is always needed to assist the instructors at the NRA Basic Pistol Classes held at DCPA.
Certified Range Officer or Instructor Status preferred.
Contact Mike Fairchild, Phone: (845) 226-8611, Email: classes@dcpistol.org

  • Gun Shows:
Another way to fullfil your work hours is to volunteer to work at the DCPA table at one of the local Gun Shows. DCPA generally has a table at the Poughkeepsie and Middletown Gun Shows. At the DCPA table we recruit new members, advertise our various shooting activities, matches, and pistol classes as well as answer questions about the pistol permit process. We also hand out related literature and sell raffle tickets to raise money for the club.
Contact Jackie Emslie, Phone: (914) 475-4901, Email: gunshows@dcpistol.org
